So here i am again   Azn
My windows 7 registry gor corrupted and i didn't have a backup -.-what do i do? i re-install the whole system (been thinking of doing it for a while now, pc got really slow) everything goes well except one little bad thing, while i'm at the end of the installation the ''finishing touch'' where i'm supposed to enter username etc i get a black sreen, and it stays that way :( any idea?
Thought it might be the graphics driver thats maulfunctioning. i got a geforce 7950Gx3 that consists of two 7900GTX. and reecently it split up into 7950GTX and 7950Gx2 instead of simply one 7950Gx2 (split up in device manager.)and since windows 7 install drivers automatically, i thought that iy might have trouble installing it :(

Shrt story below!!
Installing windows 7, at the end of the installation i get a black screen when i'm supposed to enter username and pw.

The install cd isn't corrupted been installing from it for some time now, and i tried allso mounting the iso and installing the os through fualboot xp

1. Will it boot into Safe Mode?

2. Installed any apps or windows updates?

3. Did you do a full format or quick format?

4. Enable low-resolution video (640×480)
Starts Windows using your current video driver and using low resolution and refresh rate settings. You can use this mode to reset your display settings. For more information, see Change your screen resolution.

5. Boot into Safe Mode
Click on Run then Control Panel
Open System then click on Device Manager
    Expand the Display Adapters Tree
Right click on the second “NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 (Microsoft Corporate – WDDM) entry and select Disable (click yes on the pop up)
Right click on the first “NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 (Microsoft Corporate – WDDM) entry and select Uninstall. Click on OK when asked.
    Restart the computer.
Let the PC boot normally (not in safe mode)
Windows will automatically install the default driver and re enable the second card. It’ll then ask to restart – DON’T – Click Restart Later
Head on over to http://www.nvidia.com and download the Windows 7 Drivers for the 7 Series GPU (version 185.81 beta is the current version at time of writing clocking in at 97.9mB) – Save it to a location that you can access in safe mode (not network drives. Desktop is a nice easy place)
Now that you have downloaded you will need to reboot back into safe mode (the Nvidia drivers won’t install because there is a previous installation that requires a restart… thanks Windows
Once rebooted, run the Nvidia installation.
If you check the Display Adapters in Device manager after the installation you will see that it’ll just list “NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2
Reboot again (normal boot this time, not safe mode) and if all went well you should now have your Windows 7 Desktop all up and running pretty like.

4. Will try it now.  EDIT: Didn't work :/

5. Not possible, don't have access to desktop etc.

Do a full format and try and install the O/S again, try and only have one card in the machine when your installing O/S

ok, i'll do that.
About the card, it IS one card 7950Gx2. but nvidia built it of two 7900gtx. I posted a thread about the problem that idevice manager shows one gtx and one GX2. But f that, just wanna install w7 again :(

EDIT: nope didn't work, but i did notice  one thing. When strting compmgmt.msc and disableing the 7950Gx2 nothing happens. but if i disable the 7900GTX i get an error messeage saying that something is wrong. SO my conclusion is that the installation is using the 7900GTX that is not working properly.

AGAIN this is only one card, but Nvidia built it out of two older cards (the geforce 7900GTX)
