Hello,
I realize that this problem has been talked about, so I apologize, but I am having problems with the fix for it. We have an OEM HP Pavillion a6123w Desktop w/ Windows Vista. Yesterday afternoon it wouldn't startup, gave the BOOTMGR MISSING error. I don't know where our discs are that came with our computer (we recently moved, lots of boxes to look thru) but I do know that we don't have a Vista disc.
Anyway, I downloaded a recovery disc and we tried this:
http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum/tutorials-and-how-to/fixing-%27bootmgr-is-missing%27-error-while-trying-to-boot-windows-vista/msg445/#msg445However, there is no OS listed. I tried the solution (going to Install first and then going back), it asked for the key, and then it gave a new error of Sources/Install.wim does not exsist.
Tried going back and having it find the OS again anyway, but there was still nothing there.
Tried making a new recovery disc, still same error(s).
Also tried using DOS to do a manual repair using the disc, it says completed succesfully but when I shut down and restart bootmgr is still missing :(
I found something about trying to use Windows RE to try to fix it but I have no idea how to get to that? Help please! And thank you!
