Hi,

I formatted my hard drive and when I try to install the windows vista 64 bit OS in DELL XPS M 1330   then it returns an error message "BOOTMGR is missing" at begining ,

If i click any key key when it say press any key to boot from cd and i followed next steps then at last when i try to install OS then it returns " error code :0x80070017"

I already followed your video in youtube , but when i try to select the O.S then i was not able to find my OS ( i think i formatted my hard drive) and i already completed :

1. Bakup recovery option,

2. Tryied to type expand bootmgr temp at command prompt ( boot from OS) option,

but, all in vain,

Please help me,

Ricky

 Azn Ricky

Welcome to the forum

Are you using a burned copy of Windows Vista? or is it a proper Windows Vista CD?
And is the CD Disc clean and free from dirt and scratches?

Ricky welcome to the forum
Little bit confuessed first you say you formatted your hard drive then you say you think you formatted the hard drive which was it

What did you use to format the drive ?

do you have the install disks ?

do you have any other method of recovery ? I.e oem copy of windows

if you have formatted you hard drive using the recovry disk then that is ok but if you used software to format your hard
drive then you could have lost your recovery partion that the cd works with and that is why the file can not be found

let us know what was the case format or not format

what was the reasion for the format in the first place ?

speak soon
