actually i just went back and clicked next..
it said installation was canceled..
it says windows cannot open the required file D:/Sources/Install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart installation. Error code: 0x80070002

Hi there,

No, you are meant to select "Repair your computer" not "What to know before installing Windows"

However, even though you selected the wrong option, the fact that you got this message D:/Sources/Install.wim. The file does not exist indicates that the system cannot find the files it requires to perform the operation that you requested, albeit the wrong one.

What in essence this means is that your Recovery Disk was not made correctly and therefore you will need to remake it. Use this link to download the ISO file and burn it to disk again.

http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/

I would suggest first though to give your current disk one more shot, making sure that you follow the steps here, PRECISELY:

http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum/tutorials-and-how-to/fixing-%27bootmgr-is-missing%27-error-while-trying-to-boot-windows-vista/msg445/#msg445

If you get the same result as you did in your first attempt, bin that disk and make your fresh one.

You will not be asked for nor do you need your Product Number to perform the repair that you want to carry out.

If you have any further questions/problems, just post 'em up and we will assist you.

Hi there,

ImgBurn will do the job fine for you, but you can take your pick from any of these at this link:

well my computer erased everything. so i think i need to download windows vista over again.
but i don't have that cd. this won't help because its trying to repair what i i've already had right?
an in my c: drive theres nothing.
&& remember i said it says windows cannot open the required file D:/Sources/Install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for
installation are available, and restart installation. Error code: 0x80070002
its saying that because that file (sources/install.wim) isn't on my cd right?
well when i tried to burn it again it showed me the files and i clicked in the sources folder and install.wim isn't there.
what im saying is that theres nothing on my computer because it deleted everything so i need to download windows vista again right??
