I re-installed windows using the OS disk that came with it (not recovery disk). I used to tap f8 (gateway desktop GM5664 V prem) and then, amongst others I would get "repair my computer". I no longer get the recovery environment unless I pop in the OS disk, but the option I`m looking for is "repair with PC Angel" from a partition on my drive. All the files are locked on this partition, and when I tried the bcdedit method it wouldnt let me edit some of the options like the ramdisksdipath.

Now I did manage to get to get the recovery environment but its on my desktop and when I try to load it,it says restart-I do,and it does nothing but reboot.

This is a well known issue across the web, niether noob, hacker,or guru  can suggest a resolve beyond a recovery disk.

You can use a boot disk like (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD  to access the restore partition in order to run setup.
But If your partition is hidden? then you will first need to unhide with a partition manager such as BOOTitNG or EASEUS Partition Master
