Hey all,

2 or so months ago I got a virus on my PC that basically said it was a anti-virus. It was called 'antivira' (AV) and had annoying pop-ups, didnt let me CTRL-ALT-Delete. I got rid of it using Malwarebyte. However, I still believe some of its left behind. It doesn't affect my PC anymore but when I CTRL-ALT-Delete I got a pop up window saying:

'Runtime Error

Program: C:\Windows\system32\nvvsvs.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.'

This also happens when I boot my PC up and while I'm logging on. When I boot my PC it appears but disspears 10 seconds later or I could click OK. However, when I CTRL-ALT-Delete it appears and I have to click the OK button and then access my log-off and so on.

I can't find it when in the actual system32 folder, however, when I type 'nvvsvc.exe' into Search I can find it.

1) Is this a virus?
2) Should I just delete through the Search (right click > Delete)
3) If its not a virus how can I stop this error message?
4) If it is a virus and I shouldn't just delete it, how should I get rid of it?

Thanks for reading,

Ross

 Azn Ross

Welcome to the forum

C:\Windows\system32\nvvsvs.exe belongs to NVIDIA your display driver files maybe corrupted. Try and uninstall the display driver from device manager & reinstall it back.

You can try "System Restore".

In case you don't have any restore points, a newbie here found another risky solution that is worth a try: http://wantonleaf.blogspot.com/2011/07/solution-to-bsod-nvvsvcexe-c-runtime.html

Please check it out. I have had the same problem and thought that I am going to reinstall my OS but I found this and now I am responding to you using the computer that was recovered by the method.

Hope this helps.  Cool
