Try something like this

or Drive Max

Well it has worked for me before.

Found this which worked for someone.

- select Update Driver from Device Manager as mentioned in the first reply to this post
- pick from list of device drivers on your computer
- select (Standard IDE ATA/ATAPI controller) > Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
- restart your PC
- go into BIOS and switch your HDD controller to IDE mode

i have an idea to resolve this...
i made a system image of my win 7 incase of diaster when setting up the dual boot.if i left it set in IDE MODE in the bios.and went throught the process of re loading windows using my image back up would that work and allow win7 to boot up in IDE MODE....

Take your time and read the tutorial all the answers are there.

1. Go to Intel's download centre and download the latest version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (7.6.0.1011, 8/2/2007 at time of writing) for your OS:

Heres the link you need for your O/S Windows XP
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17882&ProdId=2101&lang=eng

IATA89ENU.exe

or try this and you cant fail

- select Update Driver from Device Manager as mentioned in the first reply to this post
- pick from list of device drivers on your computer
- select (Standard IDE ATA/ATAPI controller) > Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
- restart your PC
- go into BIOS and switch your HDD controller to IDE mode
