Boot.ini and HAL.DLL error message

Windows xp sp3 unsure of install

I have not installed any new software or hardware for some time

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <windows root>\system32\hal.dll
Invalid boot.ini file booting from c:\windows\

This only started a few days ago

What i have tried to do so far is booting in safe mode with no luck tried booting from a boot disk with no luck also found your video on youtube about fixing this error message but had no luck with that. When i try to boot from my XP cd it will load all of the driver file and stuff like that but when it tries to boot windows it errors out and i get a blue screen (see attachment). It never lets me get into the recovery consel. All i did before this happened was reboot my box. Any help you give would be great and thank you Aaron
