Hello again,

I didn't manage to restore factory settings on the Acer 3660 (as per my previous help request re: no recovery password)
However, in an attempt to just make it usable, I am trying to remove old software from add/remove programs and no matter which program I attempt to remove, I get the following error:
Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\0701\Intel32\Ctor.dll

I have done several virus scans and spyware scans from different sources and nothing shows...

Are you able to tell me what this error is and how to remove it?

Have you tried to replace Ctor.dll with a good one?

The problem you describe is a file that it’s looking to start up is a scheduled task that continues to restart itself.  Try these steps to remove it and you should be without the error on your next reboot.

Go to the Start and All Programs Menu.  Navigate to Accessories, System Tools and then Scheduled Tasks.  Open this tab.

The window may have a bunch of different programs and icons, but most likely, for most users, it will have one or two. Example: Click on ParetoLogic  and right click and hit delete.  Reboot and you should be good to go!
