I was trying to play a DVD movie on my DVD player but my player can no longer play the video. But when I try to play the disc on my computer thru the Nero Show Time app, it was still able to play the movie, how is that so?

DVD Video Discs are designed to have backup files with file extension BUP. These files contain the same information as IFO files like your DVD’s menus, subtitles, tracks, etc. Files with IFO extensions are the primary files used to play DVD videos, while BUP files serve as BUP when IFO files are no longer available; w/c often results from surface scratches of DVD discs. However, only a group of specific software, like the Nero Show Time app, may open BUP files. Hence, your DVD player, it seems, does not have a special software that will allow it to play BUP files as opposed to the Nero App you have on your computer.
