To girls  Kiss welcome aboard.

LOL yes we exist! hi Cheesy

@ which tutorial? yours or the basic one that is there. I looked over it, but I'm not sure which string to follow real, since that one has multiple partitions I only got one huge ass one.  Real curious how much worse I can make it since I have no idea how I gt here in the first place

I know I'm such a noob, most of the time I had to learn on m own how to fix the PC, just go in deeper and deeper ****  Tongue

@ which tutorial?

Testdisk Step by Step: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

Read all the steps, you need to understand what you do.

About Zar... I don't like it.
I.e.: here the list of supported format files: http://www.z-a-recovery.com/man-valformats.htm

Not so many...

Most of my files are .avi. or .mkv!!!
In Linux I have many tarball (tar.gz, tar.bz2, etc), deb & rpm, different format audio (like .ogg), some script (.sh or without extension). So.... it would not be useful  to a user like me.

What types of files you have on that hard drive, mainly?
Photos? Music? What...

Yeah, I can image.

When you will bought the hard drive, warned me.

In the meantime I am continuing to look for a tool that fits your situation.

So far testdisk, for me, has always been enough. I never had to use other tools. So, I need to get informations.

From what I've read seem good Recuva (free) and R-Studio.
