Hiya was looking for some advice on repairing an old laptop,that is used solely for web browsing!.
The other day when i opened it up it ran fine,then i put it on stand by when i went back to it,it had lost wireless connection,when i try and reboot it it loads to windows xp loading screen then gives me the BSOD,it automatically reboots and when i try to enter safe mode it runs a list of drivers but then says :Press Enter to continue loading SPTD.sys,when i do this nothing happens for a few mins then BSOD again
The blue screen message says about running chkdisc but i cant this is the txt that it gives me at the bottom STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF99A524,0X(000034,0X00000000,0X00000000)
i have tried reinstalling windows but get bsod half way through,i also have run ubcd and done a hard drive test which tells me to check hard drive connections which i've done,that hard drive may be faulty,
i ordered a hd but was sent a sata instead of an ata that i needed,but does anyone out there think it would be the hard drive or could it be something else,my knowledge of computers is fairly basic so advice very welcome
