I was trying to reboot my PC (emachines) Windows XP but when trying to do so I get this message:

Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemRoot\system32\config\security
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

The reason I want to reboot my PC is do to getting a Malware, spyware, (it hid all my progarms also). I want to restore it back to the factory setting, can anyone out there help me with is problem?

Might have to do a system file checker (sfc) and see what if windows can put back any files that are missing.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
