First of all hi everyone Im mrterminationful call me mr.T
Im new here  Azn
I need help regarding 'spotmau powersuite 2009'
so here's what happen
1.my friend had a HCL laptop with vista installed in it
2.he encountered many problems with vista like apps didn't work properly and moreover it made his system quite slow
3.he asked me to install windows xp in his laptop
4.i got his laptop, and formatted his c partition
5.I inserted my xp disc restarted the laptop and started installing xp normally
6.during the process 'files are being copied' the percentage bar got stuck at 56%
7.it was unable to copy some file on the system
8.so i decided to exit the setup and install xp from another xp cd that i had
9.after i inserted my other xp cd i got an error that stated 'NTLDR is missing, press ctrl+alt+del to restart'
10.for hours i searched for solutions over the net
11.finally i came across spotmau powersuite 2009
the software basically repairs xp or any other windows OS
plus it has a option to restore corrupted or deleted xp files
In this case i needed the 'ntldr' file
12.so i got the software on a bootable cd
13.I tested it out in my pc and it worked very nicely
14.I tested it on the laptop...and it didnt even boot
15.when i inserted the powersuite disc inside the laptop dvd-rom...it gave me a black screen with a white flashing underscore
16.after some 15 secs it again gave the NTLDR error
17.The laptop's boot device priority is set to the DVD-rom,still it doesn't boot
18.i came across a forum where people were discussing running spotmau powersuite from a USB flash drive
will that fix my prob?
are there are any other solutions to my problem?
I dont want to let my friend down  Huh?

regards
Mr.T

Hi mr T welcome to the forum
see this link below this will repair ntldr is miss like a treat
http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum/software-reviews/fix-ntldr-is-missing-using-iso-download/

howeve sice the install stalled at that point it problem will not fix your problem you will just get another error becuase the files have not copied what i would suggest you do is download dban and burn it to a disk using an iso burner once you have dban on disk format on low level so the hard drive is blank then reinstall xp from cd dvd

dban is a wiping tool and will leave the hard drive blank

once installed the setup should start correcly

Hope this helps let us know how you get on

Dear BJseal91
thank you for a quick reply
Im finding the forums to be very helpful
talking about the solution
so are you telling that dban can be used to format the HDD of my friends laptop?
There are some questions popping up in my mind right now
so let me just put it as this
i will download dban
i will burn it with a iso burn software such as imgburn
i will insert it in the cd-rom
i will restart the laptop
Now at this point
i think the 'dban' disc will not boot at all
coz previously i had tried to boot my windows xp disc and spotmau powersuite 2009
but none of them booted
i think the obvious reason was the ntldr error which obstructed the 'boot' process
all in all
thanx for the reply
I'll try it after a  few mins
I hope i'll get my answer when i succeed
will update here after several hours
 Bye

Mr.T
Thanks yes you are correct all the way untill you metion it will not boot.

Have you set the bios boot to cd first ?
if not do that first

if you are not sure on that rapidly press F10 or F12 depending on computer usaly F12 for most computers

then select cd/dvd to boot from then boot from the cd and press enter when it prompts you to you have to be quick tho

once that is done dban will load and just go though the setup

hope this helps you mr T

speak soon

dear bradely
the boot priority was always set to DVD/cd-rom right from the beginning
I just want to be sure that it will work or not
I haven't tried booting dban yet
but will do so very soon

dear bradely
It didnt work  Cry
i inserted the dban bootable disc in the laptop
and the same happened it didnt boot  Huh?
It worked well in my pc when i tested it
There is an inbuilt feature of the laptop's BIOS that allows you to 'pick' the source you want to boot from at startup
i selected dvd-rom and it didnt boot
just gave me a black screen
and after 15 secs again the ntldr error came up  Embarrassed
his dvd-rom works well as i had tried installing xp at the first place  :Smiley
now i want to know if the dban technique would work if i put it in a flash drive?

This is very simple to fix.
some were in your bios  there will be somthing like:
"restore to factor settings"
"load default settings"
"reset bios"
or something like that simply do that.
restart your system and do not touch any settings just go to the boot list its f9 on HP.
and it should work a treat if.
if not consider flashing the bios.
