Quite a weird problem. It doesn't happen with xp usually. Try and uninstall the OS and reinstall it.

You havent given us much info rameshever.
How much RAM installed?
How many Processes running during normal operation?
How many startup programs do you have?  - look at the startup tab of msconfig utility and count the ones that are ticked
What size hard disk and how much free and used space?
