Hi im new to this forum first time posting because i need help with my computer will gotta tell you the basic information.. 1. Make & Model of PC its a amd i think AMD Athlon 64 3000+ forgot what motherboard i got it custom built 2. Operating System plus Service Packs windows xp sp2 3. Full System Specifications. 1gb ram, 1gb video card dont know which one, 1.8 gigahertz,160gb hdd 4. Recent Software installs/updates. gimp.exe, some online photo editing tools...
problem: 1. The exact error message STOP: c0000021a {Fatal System Error} The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down. 2. How long has the problem existed. started today morning when i turned on the computer 15/9/2010. 3. System changes prior to the problem occurring and when your system last ran OK. nothing just installed that program, it ran okay last night on 14/9/10 4. Have you tried to fix it yourself? What did you do? What happened as a result? changed some bios things forgot now, and did f8 and enabled error free or something now it stays on blue screen of death.

Hello, I'm new to this and just hope the info I have can point you in the right direction, normally when you have a problem it's always a good thing to use google and look up the stop message, this is what I found for your message :
0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED (Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1561.) This occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised. Security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can’t run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur as a result of malware infestation or when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.
You will most likely have to wait till someone more skilled than me can come on and help further, I really hope you get this sorted however it could be quite a lengthy trail and error situation as their can be many different causes. Good luck take care your in the right place people here will do their best for you.

bonie001 Welcome to the forum How to troubleshoot a "STOP 0xC000021A" error"This message indicates a serious security problem with Windows XP—a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (Csrss.exe), is compromised. The most common cause of this problem is a third-party program, and the solution is usually to remove that program. This error can also occur if a backup set has been partially restored, causing a mismatch in system files, or if system permissions have been incorrectly modified so that the System account no longer has permission to access system files and folders." http://support.microsoft.com/kb/156669/en-usAlso check this link out http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316503&sd=RMVP

Hi bonie001, good luck keep batting away mate check out Britec and others suggestions, I know it's painful but if you stick at it the reward of finally fixing a seemingly insurmountable problem will be sweet.
Take care.

Hi Bonie001, here is what I could find for your error :
The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following: • Mismatched system files have been installed. • A Service Pack installation has failed. • A backup program that is used to restore a hard disk did not correctly restore files that may have been in use. • An incompatible third-party program has been installed.
Hopefully another member can point you in the right direction to better help you out, good luck take care.
