Fix Missing Items from Start Menu Window: If you have been infected with malware, you know that after removing certain types of malware infection, it can do damage to the operating system, one of these common issues is missing items from your Start Menu. As you can see the Start Menu has three areas:

Section 1 is for your pinned programs

Want to rebuild those items? its easy.
Right click on what program you wish to have listed in Section 1 and clickPin to Start Menu“.

Section 2 is for frequently used programs

Right click on “Start Button“, clickProperties“.
Then click “Start Menu” tab, check-mark both boxes in “Privacy” section:

Click OK.
Section 2 will now repopulate as you use the computer.

Section 3

Right click on “Start Button“, clickProperties“.
Then click “Start Menu” tab, click on “Customize Button
Now just check-mark what items you want to have displayed in Section 3.
or click “Use Default Setting“.

To Restore Default Start Menu Shortcuts used by Current Logged On User Only

NOTE: All 32 bit and 64 bit editions of Windows 7 have these same default Start Menu shortcuts used by the currently logged on user only.
