Windows update fails to connect - Scallywag247 - 05-11-2016

Hi can anyone help me, my lap top was originally on vista home premium, I got someone to install Windows 7 but now find it won't update.
I am not very technical, it seems if I uninstall say net framework it will automatically reinstall it, but if I search for updates it just keeps looking and looking
I got fed up and decided to install Windows 10 but likewise it doesn't connect with update and therefore doesn't complete.
I have Internet connection can get all web sites etc, and exhausted many update fixes

Can anyone help, I would be grateful if someone could help via remote

Thank you

Is the version of Windows 7 a legit copy? or pirated version?

Hi as far as I am aware it's legit, I took it to a computer repair shop to install it, and it worked ok at the time.

Also I have the Windows 10 logo which I assume I wouldn't get otherwise.

I don't know how to check , or see product key number.

If you have used a partition manager software like EaseUS or something else, that may have caused the issue

If you did use a software like that, please follow the instructions provided by a user named genet in the following article

Please uninstall those devices from there with the exclamation marks and then try running the Windows updates

I would also like you to disable any third party antivirus software if there is any installed on your system.. they can also keep the updates from happening

If it still does not work, please perform a clean boot of your Windows as explained at https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/929135 and then try running the update
