Windows 10
#1
Hi Guys,

I have a genuine Windows 7 machine that i have working perfect. I like fiddling about with software and do not mind if something goes wrong and I have to reload the o/s. Because of this I was comfortable with upgrading to Windows 10 and having a play knowing I could go back to W7. I downloaded the clean install onto usb, then wiped the pc to test it. Everything went well and I was happy with W10, that was until I could not get my printer to work (the scanning side of it) printing side works ok. So I spent a bit of time on HP sites eventually finding out my 'older printer' was not supported, so I reloaded W7, all ok, then I decided to repartition and create a dual boot, which went absolutely fine.

My question is that I cannot find out anywhere how my bootable usb stick that has W10 on it will work if I have to upgrade my pc (buy a new one) after the year free upgrade, will it automatically upgrade to a new pc as long as I log on with my Microsoft Account.

Many thanks

  1. okay the free upgrade will be available for one year
  2. after that you will have to buy windows 10
  3. you can use your usb windows 10 installation to reinstall windows 10
  4. but will have to enter a activation key
  5. you can use your windows 7 activation key with in the one year of the free upgrade
  6. after that you will have buy a windows 10 activation key

Hi there ,
I upgraded to windows 10 , but realised that my processor at the time , being an AMD A10 6800k, want compatible with windows 10, so I changed the CPU to an AMD A10 7870k , what is frustrating is that I've had to windows techs telling me two different things. One tells me that deposited changing the cup, my windows 10 should activate within the next few days as there is a high demand on the activation server . Another tells me that , I should buy a copy of windows home to get a new product key , could someone possibly help as it looks like even Microsoft don't know ther answer, as there not consistent thanks in advance
