I need a simple CPU-meter but the gadgets on internet seem no longer functional as Windows no longer supports sidebar apps. Does anyone know a solution, so I can put a couple of small thumbnails with cpu usage on my screens?

The safest way to see your PC Performance, ie.. cpu usage, memory usage, etc.. is the task manager in your system by using CTRL + ALT + DEL and click performance. There are programs such as XWidget and Rainmeter that have a lot of custom meters but they can be difficult and confusing for the average user, not to mention non working files are common. If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, and want the gadgets, I would recommend BRITECS Tutorial video on adding gadgets at this link:
