Windows 10 Product Key Activation Issue
#11
ok Heydon2015 keep us posted

Yes , I have been told by my computers manufacturer that if the refresh of the PC failed , then as you suggested it was a hardware issue , my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-F2A55m-ds2 Rev 3.0 , and I upgraded my processor to the AMD 7870k , having first checked with gigabyte that it was compatible with this motherboard , everything was working fine, the only thing I think of is the fact that during installing updates it seemed to be taking forever, so I foolishly shut down the computer , that is the only thing out of the orindary I have done , since everything was working fine until this point I cannot imagine that I have bad sectors in my hard drive .....I've been using it only since 28th July 2014 , so it's not very old , but... Who knows , it's very frustrating I don't wish to shell out for new hardware , one thing I intend to do is on the usb hbcdtheres a option to clear the drive using a tool I Mau do that

ok how is the surface test coming so far ?

Its possible the problem with you're Windows 10 activation is down to a change of CPU. Original "AMD A10 6800k" to a new "AMD 7870k" that's a change of hardware, it could be blocked due to the change in hardware since you registered that hardware with "AMD A10 6800k" you have since change that CPU and it has notice and change in hardware and won't let you activate that Windows licence.

The surface test with 01:27:16 left in it is the dos version and so far doesn't look like any errors being reported , I ran the five minute test first that reported zero errors

Well the problem I have is the fact that i don't have a copy of windows 10 or a valid windows 10 key to activate windows ten over the net , that's why I was trying to install windows 8.1 first that has a valid key as it was originally pre installed on my computer .  I have 00:46 mins remaining on the western digital data lifeguard diagnostics tool , it does state that the log file is CLOSED, I don't know if that is significant with anything

If you are prompted to enter a product key, click Do this later and give it a few days, Windows 10 will activate automatically.

#19
Oh , I understood that to upgrade to windows 10 I needed to install windows 8.1 , and thereby generate a valid product key ?

Select “Install Now” once the Windows installer starts. When you reach a screen asking for your Windows 10 product key, click the Skip button. You won’t actually have a Windows 10 product key if you took advantage of the free upgrade offer.
