Flash Player replacement on linux.

Hello,
I use the firefox browser on linux mint and currently the flash player is stuck on v11.2.Research suggests that the flash player may be being phased out altogether,is there a viable alternative to flash for now as i only use it for some online gaming content otherwise i would uninstall it completely.
I do not want to download and use google chrome because there are elements of this browser i dont really like in regard to data collection etc.
Ive used firefox for years and dont wish to be forced to use a browser i dont like.

I think GS is a full time Linux user, so he may know more.

Personally I never use Adobe Flash (even on my Windows machine), it was rightly halted for Linux as apart from it being consistently problematic the introduction of HTML5 getting stronger meant Adobe didn't have to worry about it.

I always use HTML5 by default for YT vids and embedded videos on sites it should be the same in FF although I haven't used FF in a while.
What version of FF do you use for linux? Is it actually Mozilla or a linux derivative such as Iceweasel?

Have you tried Pale Moon for linux?

Gaming however is a different kettle of fish!!!

Chrome is pretty much the way to go for flash gaming until more HTML5 games are created. You say you don't like the data collection of Chrome (I understand) however, Flash is collecting data all the time even when it's a simple advert on a page. Sooo?

If you'd like to see if your browser is using HTML5 by default then you could try playing Hello Run

I have tried many different types of supposed Flash player and none are really that effective, they are ok at playing swf files downloaded but then again so is vlc player (not really what you want in this case).

Pepper flash is really the only one supported now.

This is why so many people use Steam instead.

And FF collects data too

Hello guilty spark and thank you very much for your informative reply.My apologies for a late reply.
I use firefox as my browser and did try try palemoon briefly but did not like it so much.

Weighing everything up i have decided to use the flash player which is present in the mint repositries.Indeed it is out of date but it still functions perfectly and i only oocasionally use it so it seemed an obvious choice.
