Blue Screen athwbx.sys Windows 10
#1
Hello, I watched the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhQ3azFhPzs but I am not sure if the PC is the same issue.
I have the blue screen except my system file is "athwbx.sys"

I cannot get to my desktop at all except through SafeMode and that is a pain in itself in windows 10. (thought slightly more visually pleasing)
just to make sure I am clear. When I start up the laptop and do NOT hit any of the function keys it starts to load up windows (that dot loading) and  then the sadface blue screen appears. (every time) always with the same message.
I have 0 restore points too, which is odd, but it happens I guess. I am not able to access the PC without safemode.

I have booted up in safemode currently my PC in question. It is not connected to the internet, network interface comes up with nothing.
is it still viable to uninstall the drivers via safemode? it shows I have two display adapters for this Toshiba Laptop.

any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if this was posted else where a link to how to fix it would also be appreciated and I apologize for having created a new thread.

not my laptop, i'll do my best:
*OS: 32bit Windows10 (upgraded from windows 7 I was told)
*Laptop is from 2009 I think.
*No hardware upgrades.
*not aware of any Software or Driver upgrades/updates.
*Last change made to it was in August when they upgraded to windows 10, since that day this issue has occured.
*time of problem: since August(specific date unknown)

*On start up it loads and when it loads windows itself it bluescreens giving system exceptions handle athwbx.sys

*I have tried to restore(no restore points) (I was going to try and repair, not an option) (currently in safemode)
*No the problem does not happen when booted in safemode (currently still in safemode)
*No screenshot, different PC(laptop) no way to transfer pictures. Only error is that which I posted above: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTIONS_NOT_HANDLED(athwbx.sys)
*make & model: Toshiba Satelite L-355 system

Worse case scenario I just recover all the files onto a backupdrive. But i'd rather not since I am not sure if this person has reinstall discs.

athwbx.sys is an atheros network adaptor you will need to find a win10 compatible driver for it, not always an easy task with network drivers. Another MS screw up, you are not alone in this problem puttzy.

so is it a Network adapter or a display adapter issue? Compton tells me to uninstall the display adapter(i have 2) but you say the Atheros network adapter is to blame.

I need more guidance on this now.

All of those drivers say they are not compatible with win10, but what about this: MS Qualcomm win10

Look in device manager to see what wireless adaptor you have. If its the same type then give it a go, you can always roll back if it doesn't work.

But don't expect miracles Win 10 is a joke when it comes to compatibility regardless of what the MS tool says.

Try this fix to see if it resolves your issue:

To get  Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 working in Windows 10.

We will be using Windows 8 files

Please follow these steps:

1. Open "Device Manager".
2. Click "Network Adapters" and Right Click on Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter.
3. Click "Update Driver Software".
4. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of devices on my computer"
6. Click "Have Disk"
7. Click "Browse", now choose file "athwb.inf" and then click "Open", click "Next" to install it
8. Finish

athwb.inf file can be downloaded  here

INF files can be downloaded below.
32bit INF file (athwb.inf) from Atheros driver version 10.0.0.299  [418 KB]

64bit INF file (athwbx.inf) from Atheros driver version 10.0.0.299  [420 KB]
