Drive 'locked' when trying to refresh
#1
Hi, came across a problem on my travels last week and was wondering if anyone had a solution for this?

when out to a computer where the computer would boot into windows, but start and any other modern app wouldn't work. as a result i couldn't access the options to refresh / reset within the OS.

so i decided to try and boot to setup using a USB key created with the media creation tool. But when attempting to perform the refresh i got the error ' the drive is locked'

system restore wouldn't work either, nor would reset.

in the end i did a backup / reload the 'traditional' way. but would be interested in resolving this so when i inevitably come across an issue where i need to refresh off a key I can do

thanks!

How to fix "the drive is locked"

1. Boot up from your Windows 10 Disc or USB
2. Once you get to click Repair Your Computer, "Don't click Install Now"
3. Click Advanced Options
4. Click Other Options
5. Click Diagnose my PC
6. Your computer will reboot when completed

Your computer should now have a unlocked hard drive.
