Yeah buy a SSD, its the best way of getting a speed boost.

By this do you mean a Solid State Drive? and is it just a hard drive you install in your machine ?

yes solid state hard drive you would install it in your machine

then reinstall windows or load a image of your operating system

on to the solid state hard drive

you can create a image using favorite is clonezilla
