HP PSC 1610xi Remove and Check Catridge Error

I bought an ink cartridge for the printer named above . Every thing worked fine no problems at all and then one day i turn on the printer i get "remove and check right cartridge " so i did just that nothing seems odd so i put the cartridge back in and i still get the same message. How do i fix this?any ideas?

Here is some other ideas:

• Was this a HP cartridge you used? or a patented cartridge? 
• Have you tried uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling it?
• Have the cartridges refilled or new
• Are cartridge terminals clean and free from any tap or rubbish?
• Check for any updates HP Drivers
