BSOD Kernel Data Inpage Error 0x0000007a
#1
Hi All,

Completed this build on Saturday
mobo - Asus A68HM Plus (Bios 1401 Latest)
Cpu - A8 7650k
ram - 8GB DDR3 Kingston
SSD - 120Gb Patriot Blaze
Video - GTX 750Ti
OS - Win 7 ultimate
Updated windows, drivers and Bios

have started and restarted PC about 30 times during the weekend without issue. however after downloading a few steam games and being asked to reboot the system, on the reboot I get a black screen saying no drive found "press Cntrl, Alt, Delete to restart". I go into bios and no SSD is found?? I reset the Bios and I then I assign boot order to the ssd.

Now when downloading a steam game I get BSOD with this  KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, STOP: 0x0000007A, unfortunately no dump/crash files are recorded.

Your thoughts would be appreciated?

ok run The How-To Geek Guide to Using Check Disk in Windows 7, 8, or 10

How to Test Your Hard Drive Using SeaTools for Windows

how to check your hard drive health status with crystal disk info

did the problem start after or before you update your bios?

On the surface it sounds like your hard drive is failing.

Thank you for the responses guys.

Can I ask about Chkdsk? I have read that it has little affect on SSD's and that it is really designed for HDD's.

Happy to run crystal disk to check on the drive and report back.

When I first started it up it was running bios 0901  and it was one of the last thing I updated, I think it did have a BSOD before I updated the bios but I cannot be 100% sure, because it was a long couple of days during the build.

Forgot to mention all parts were brand new in box, so I would hope that the SSD is performing as expected.

yes its safe to run Chkdsk on a SSD

yes it maybe less affect on a SSD

but Chkdsk also check for file system corruption

I was looking at your motherboard bios and the least version was release 2015/11/10

it could very well be that the least bios version have bugs in it

but lets test everything first before downgrade the bios

run SeaTools for Windows on the hard drive also

lets test memory you will have to test  one memory at a time

if you have more than one memory install how to write memtest86 to a flash drive

Check your sata power and sata data cables going to your drive. Replace/Re-seat them

Thanks Timster done that several times.

@ Compton, presumably once I have memtest on the usb, I restart the PC with only one Ram dimm installed? and how long does it run for ?

UPDATE - Ok so I loaded up the USB and got into the GUI but there are like heaps of different tests most look like CPU testing, is there a particular one I am suppose to run ?

UPDATE 2 - So I clicked on start test and it running through a stack of tests. I says 4 passes so at this rate Im thinking its going to take 6+ hrs

Cheers
