ok so the hard drive look good

but Capacity is only 160GB

your laptop have 500GB hard drive

I am sure you are using more  then 160GB space on the laptop

which means you can't do a complete clone of the operating system

I think what you should have done is to buy a bigger hard drive like https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

and this also https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0VN-0003-000H5&cm_re=hard_drive_enclosure-_-0VN-0003-000H5-_-Product

that way you can do a complete clone of the hard drive

Oh i just wiped my harddrive clean and figured id instal windows 10 on the ssd since any os after vista but before windows 10 has that annoying windows 10 upgrade lol, but yeah the hard drive you sent me a link to was one i would of gotten but it was 4$ above my budget so i went with the one with the specs above and i didn't use the full 500gb hd so i figured id exchange the high storage capacity for the ssd 120gb and with a bonus have the speed ive been wanting all though its not the best ssd out there but it should hopefully not be as irritating and noisey ad the mechanical drives lol

But i am a little nervous to take a part my laptop to instal the ssd not because of the screws but unsnapping the top from the bottom and maintaining its look instead of a bunch of knicks and holes but i should do pretty well with it if not ill ask my lady to help because she has more patients in that area than i lol

ok this video should help with taking the hard drive out

remember take your time we are here to help

also you will still need this so you can use the laptop for backuping data  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0VN-0003-000H5&cm_re=hard_drive_enclosure-_-0VN-0003-000H5-_-Product

Either the dude doing that was to fast or he didn't do it but did he clean off the thermal compound and not reapply new thermal compound? Other than that it was a very informative video Smile

#8
ya he did reapply thermal compound

you will need to get tools like this to help so you don't knicks the laptop

Opening Picks set of 6

Spudger

plastic Opening Tools

Craftsman 9-47139 Phillips Screwdriver Set, 5 Piece

#9
Although Heavy guitar plecs will also suffice if you don't have a spudger.

Ive been browsing around and ive been reading stuff about disable this or enable this you wanna do this in order to get the best out of the ssd so the ? I have is there tweaks or software that i should do or download after i install the ssd or should i just let windows 10 take over and not worry about it?
