Optical (toslink) 5.1 audio converter / splitter
#1
Hi,
So I am trying to get 5.1 to come out of my to to my Z-5500 speaker system.
So I was wondering is any one knows of an adaptor that will support toslink optical in and converts the signal to 5.1.

My current setup is HTPC (Asus K53SJ) and Xbox one connected via HDMI to TV (Samsung UA40ES6200) and audio pass through via optical toslink to my Logitech Z-5500 system. However, with a little reading I found out that my to doesn't support 5.1 Passthrough.

Notes:
I did have a receiver but the HTPC was unable to handle 5.1 through the receiver.

You are running a laptop with no 5.1 sound support and no SPDIF optical port. You are not going to get 5.1 surround sound from that setup. If you are running a desktop You will need this to get 5.1 Asus Xonar 5.1 Sound Card  or another type of 5.1 sound card.

Won't work the HTPC is a laptop. Even if I had a sound card I would still require some form of toslink splitter / switch as the Logitech has only one toslink input.

Surely there has to be a device that allows this. Even a splinter / switch that allows 2 in one out
