Gateway 504 errors?
#1
Occasionally I get some random Gateway 504 errors when loading web pages..

using firefox latest..

Firewall is set to normal no crazy options set etc..

My question is What do Gateway 504 errors mean and where do I even start to look to troubleshoot?

Thanks

Does this happen on other browsers besides Firefox?

Does this happen on one computer or more than one computer on your network?

* Try rebooting your modem/router
* Try changing your DNS
* Try resetting your browser settings.

Ok, I'll try those..

Unfortunately I think it's only my computer as I'm on a home network and other family members use it as well with different computers and I haven't heard them ever complain about 504 errors.. so I assume it's just mine..

I will have to see if it does it on other browsers..

I haven't tried GoogleDNS.. or should I use OpenDNS?

I will also have to try to reset the router.. haven't done that in ages..

(but other family members do not complain about seeing these 504 errors so I have a feeling it's something on my computers end..)

If I get another one, I'll take a picture of it and post it here for you..

Routers can do funny things sometimes like pick certain computers to not like. Sometimes a simple reboot of the modem/router corrects these issues.

You can try either one of those DNS's you listed.

Let us know.
