Removing MS Office Pro Plus 2013 completely.
#1
Smile Hello all,

I've got a copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013.
It is a Trial version which has been activated using software. Cool
I now want to delete it completely from my system.
It's proving strangely problematic.
I've done the obvious stuff in the Control Panel but it doesn't want to uninstall. Huh
So I've deleted it (force delete) manually in Windows and the cmd Panel.
I've even gone into the Windows Registry and carefully deleted many entries for this
program there. I don't know whether I've deleted every reference in the Registry to Office15.
Probably not.
Having done all that I now get prompted to re-install Office Pro Plus with a popup window
while I'm starting up another program. I promptly cancel this offer and continue.
I'm quite intrigued by all this. Exactly what does one have to do to utterly remove a program you don't want any more?
I mean completely remove any reference to it on your system.
There is still something on my system which is periodically triggering an attempt to re-install Office 2013.
I'd like to know what it is and where it is.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Idea

I don't think you will get much help on this forum. You have stated that you used "software to activate it" this comes under the category of hacked/cracked software which this forum does not entertain.
Remember! You should exercise complete CTRL and you ALT to think carefully before you DELete stuff willy nilly.

Extending the life of three year old software which was given freely in the first place and was periodically used by a
personal user not a business user is not what I would call "hacking". But hey - I'm only giving an opinion.
Ultimately it doesn't really matter because my question relates to completely removing any software however it
was acquired and installed. It was supposed to be a "technical" issue not a "moral" one.
Either you know the answer or you don't.
I'm aware of IOBit and Comodo but I did wonder if anyone on this forum could give me more information on locating the remnants
of software left behind once uninstallation had taken place. Where and how do you look for the remnants?
This question affects all of us after all. I was hoping the clever ones on this forum would help the less clever.
I've just attempted to install a X64 version of MS Office and a window comes up telling me it can't install this x64 version because there are still remnants of a x32 version on my system. Having gone to great lengths to remove my previous version of Office 2013 this information
came as some surprise. There is no reference to Microsoft Office left on my system as far as I can see but I will allow that there may well still be some left in my Registry somewhere. So I'd like to find those and remove them. What about the "host" file for instance - any suggestions there?
By the way Microsoft, as I'm sure many of you will know, is giving away Windows 10. In fact, it's trying to force it free down your throat.
So please don't let's get hung up on Microsoft. If you can offer some technical "know-how" on this issue which you'd like to share - please do.
Best wishes.

Hi roberthansjorg,

It looks like I owe you an apology. You were asking how to uninstall Microsoft office 2013 and not how to activate it illegally (Alarm bells were ringing when you stated "software to activate it")

Anyhow, office is at best a pain to COMPLETELY remove from your system without any trace at all, but you also have an additional problem; the "activation" software you used makes many changes to your system and to certain registry and folder entries. This problem was seen on friend's computer I fixed last year with similar issue. In the end the way I got round it was by finding which activator was used then I 'uninstalled' the activation process (ie I reversed what it did to activate it) then you should be able to uninstall successfully.

I COULD be more specific, and ask you for certain information and show you how and where this activation process 'resides' and how to remove it completely, but that would involve openly discussing the name of the activator and indirectly showing others in the forum how to activate office by de-activating it!

I hope this makes sense. Big Grin

Hello There:

It can also be a PAIN to uninstall "ANY" MS product from your machine if it uses the MSI - 90% of the time I see a "please wait while MS configures MS Office" and I believe that this is due to the MSI - Sometimes, you don't have to have Office On your machine before it will launch the Installer to "configure" the removal.....

Take Care Smile
