WPD FileSystem Volume Driver issue.
#1
Hi guys,

I've got another slight issue that maybe you could help me with.

If I plug in a usb device, I've noticed in device manager under Portable Devices, it has a yellow exclamation mark near WPD FileSystem Volume Driver.

On looking at the details it says this;

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I can use my external hard drive ok. But I have noticed if I plug in my phone, on my other computer it would charge up and also recognise the device as a temporary drive, like any other usb connection. But on this computer it doesn't. So I'm thinking there is some issue.

I've noticed when searching over the internet others have had this problem from at least Win7.

Is there an easy fix for this?

When I put the phone in I get a yellow exclamation mark on the MTP USB Device entry.

What are those little boxs on the top entries? Does that mean they are ok?

On the bottom 2, the AiChargerPlus.sys and the AndroidAFDx64.sys I think are both from that Asus install I had problems with.

How do you recommend I proceed with this?

Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions on this stuff. I just know you guys will have the answer Smile

P.S. I hope I'[ve updated the picture ok.

I ended up rolling back a build to the one before. Most things do work again.

Though the phone seems a little odd. I plugged it in and it asked me what I want to do with it, so I selected to open up file explorer, which it did. Then suddenly file explorer closed and the drive letter disappeared to.

I checked device manager and there is no exclamation mark now.

Any ideas what this is? Why would it recognise it then suddenly disappear?

Btw, I should ask this now... I know this is a technical forum. But do any of you guys repair computers in a shop or make house visits to help fix issues?

Also, how do I stop 1151 from reinstalling?

The phone part now works. It doesn't show it as a drive letter, doh! Smile

But yea.. I still need a way to prevent the big update

It seems to be that Asus Suite 3 is the culprit. I've noticed other people with the same usb problems on the ROG forum.

I guess the thing to do is to completely remove the program before doing the update.

Anyways so far everything is back working.

Why are computer so stressful? Or their owners lol
