Windows 7 64bit on 2 computers?
#1
I just upgraded my old P2 case with new hardware.I had a tech reactivate my windows OS from my old setup to new.I now have built a backup system with my old hardware(including my old HDD w\Win7 64) and am getting a "This Windows 7 operating system is not genuine"in the bottom right corner of the desktop screen.

I am guessing that I should buy a New Win7 disk w\New activation key?

Will that work and how do I activate it without reinstalling whole new OS?

It originally was an upgrade from Vista but....in 2014 I had the drive wiped(had a virus) and I believe the tech used a full version.

I connect them both in the same room so I don't know anything about networking and if this will conflict with new build.Any help would be appreciated.

ok you are currently use your windows 7 activation key on your new system

which mean you can,t use that windows 7 key activation on your old system

windows 7 activation key can only be activated on one system at a time

I figured as much so....since my old computer has the same key I have to buy another key yes?And then enter that key somewhere?

yes you would buy a new key then enter it on the old system

then it would become activated

what windows 7 edition are you running?

windows 7 Professional 64bit?

Ok....reboot here....I just checked and this system has a OEM key and the other one has what looks like an upgrade key but it's not mine(upgrade).Which means THIS guy installed a full version and DID NOT use my upgrade key and the other tech used something else.

For whatever reason the keys are different.

I tried to activate windows on the other one and nothing happens.....it just sits there
I tried to enter new product key and same result

Lower right corner of screen says the "not genuine" crap

I am really at a loss here now....that system has all the same hardware it had before it's just in a different case.

Oh,excuse me...the CPU cooler is different.

I am running Windows 7 64 Home Premium SP1 Build 7601

Activate using the telephone

If Windows isn't able to activate online, you'll have the option to activate Windows 7 using an automated phone system.

Open Windows Activation by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, right-clicking Computer, clicking Properties, and then clicking Activate Windows now.‌

Click Show me other ways to activate.

Type your Windows 7 product key, and then click Next.

Click Use the automated phone system. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click the location nearest you from the drop-down list, and then click Next.

Call one of the available phone numbers listed. An automated system will guide you through the activation process.

When prompted, enter the installation ID that's listed on your screen into your phone's keypad.

Write down the confirmation ID that the phone system gives you.

Type the confirmation ID into the space provided under Step 3 in the activation dialog, click Next, and then follow the instructions.

If activation isn't successful, stay on the line to be transferred to a customer service representative who can assist you.
