Write Protect an External HDD !
#1
Hey Brian
i'm a recent follower of yours on Facebook and subscriber on youtube , your video have been more that helpful.
a small favor to ask from you is to ,please show me how to write protect a 1TB external hard drive like you would a pen drive , i tried to do it the same way but the pen drive has only one user in its security tab named Everone however the external hdd shows me 4 user and when i do write protect it it works except once i try to remove this write protection it gives me an error saying that i haven't got the permission to do so and eventually i'm forced to delete the hdd and recreate it again . i'll be grateful if you did a small video showing me how or even write me back to show me.
thank you Brian and keep up the Brilliant work

It will depend on what level you want to write protect that drive.

Options to protect external hard drive.
  • Use truecrypt to encrypt the drive.
  • Change Permissions to only allow Admin and block everyone else.
  • Make it Read Only?
  • Password Protect the drive.
  • Change jumper pins on hard drive to write protect mode.
