AlienRespawn 2.0 (2009)
#1
Anyone know where I can get the BIOS flash AlienRespawn 2.0 (2009)?Dell won't even talk to you about it....as in....tough crap.It was released right after Win 7 came out as a patch for the original Vista version.Alienware Hive apps and history don't even exist anymore.Dell replaced ALL of it with their bull!@#&.The program they use isn't even worth it AND you have to own a Dell. Thx

AlienRespawn is just a backup program that will backup your data
what are you trying to achieve with the AlienRespawn?

Dell's Respawn IS just that. The original is a BIOS set that enables you to use your Alienware setup disk.Without it I can't use my disk.I was going to use that on my backup PC.Hope that helps.

LOL....Alienware Area-51 P2 750i
Original Configuration:ASUS P5N-D nForce NVidia 750i chipset
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Elpida DDR2 8GB
GTX260 896 MB Reference Video card
750W AW PSU pulse switching(current PSU)
Award BIOS....ASUS distributor version 0801
Alienrespawn version 1.0 BIOS init
Windows Vista Home premium 64bit
Purchased in May of 2009 right when Dell was getting ready to take over.
Upgraded to Windows 7 64bit in October of 2009 right after official release.

Installed Alienware "AlienRespawn 2.0" when patch was released for Windows 7.

It is NOT a Windows software program. It is a BIOS init that allows Alienware system restore to work.

The disk even says that Microsoft is not responsible for the support for this OS.Alienware is.Hope this helps.

you need to play around with BIOS like I said you should not be playing around with BIOS
I now get what you are trying to do reset from a factory DVD, but need this BIOS unit for it to work now my advice on the matter as an IT Professional forget about using factory DVD and do a clean install of windows also what happens with factory reset DVD USB most of time comes with bloatware on them just do a clean of windows then create an image

For the record the original Alienware PC's were never shipped with ANY bloatware....period.It's one of the reasons I bought one.The setup disk is Proprietary Alienware only Windows Vista.Which is why Microsoft doesn't support it.Because Alienware made it better. Before I had to wipe my drive for one of MY mistakes that computer ran without issue for 5 years.Even back then it booted in 45 seconds. The MINUTE I got the fresh install of WIN 7 boot times went to 3 minutes.

I am defending it because the founding members of Alienware now own Origin Gaming PC's.You should check them out if you aren't aware of them. These guys CARE about the customer.Dell ruined AW...badly.

To install the AR 2.0 you don't have to mess with the BIOS.....it is a self installer.I am guessing you don't game much.Thank you for your help

Not all Alienware is good, some models are junk. Seen it with my own eyes, your paying for the name. I think Timster had some crap Alienware machines in his shop. I don't rate them that much to be honest.

Yeah but Alienware used to be a good brand before Dell took over. As far as acquiring recovery media from that era I would think you are not going to have much luck unfortunately.

Yes sir...it's just like owning a Triumph or anything else....some are outstanding and some aren't(I have owned 14 Triumph's by the way and worked on hundreds).MY Alienware was outstanding enough for me to use the case(this one)7 years later for my new build. The PSU and fans all still work like new(PSU might be in the latter stages) and the case is almost spotless and still relevant.THAT is a good computer.Thx again
