AMD Radeon graphics?

I just want to know how they are named. For example nVidia names its drivers like 950, 960, 970 in order of performance. So how does this compare with AMD graphics? I am building a pc and right now my only option is to get a nvida driver because i don't know how radeon graphics are named.
