xp format

Fred here in Essex, anyone know if you can format the drive you are using with xp, prob sounds stupid and you may have to boot on a different drive to do it...I just got unable to format drive is in use,which I guess it was...but the cd on the pc didn't work....Fred

You won't be able to format the drive/partition you are using.

You will have to boot into a live CD or USB.
