I was watch this video and said to myself how I stop iit
paying 10.000 is not a solution you as a IT professional you most find a solution
one of my solution would be to implement Linux
now when I say Linux you have to look at what foundation you are using you have 3 main foundation
which one is more source
Ubuntu
debian
arch
now I would go with arch because it more source most people would go with Ubuntu but that would be a mistake
because most ransomware would be focusing Ubuntu and it less source
what Linux environment would you use
Unity
Xfce
I would go with Xfce because its light wight use a windows layout easy to learn
now I am not saying its prefect solution you would have problem with
drivers
now lets keep in mind its school the computer is probably 5 years old so drivers should
hardware printer/ scanner
could get it working if not you would have to buy a printer/scanner that's compatible with your Linux solution
its still cheaper then paying 10.000
software
now you would need to find alternative that would work with Linux
but remember its a school now what do student use Microsoft office
could use libreoffice or open office
virtualization
you would have to lock down that virtualization
of windows
now using virtualization would be great to get windows software working on Linux
but the computers would have to capable of doing virtualization
sever
the school sever would have to be source
but most ransomware are user activated
at the end of day you would have to do your analysis
