Windows Operating System Dilemma
#11
Moniker You know I haven't had any big problems with Windows 10, and I am part of the insider program, so I get updates before most. Little problems yes but nothing big. I have enjoyed Windows 10 so far. Hope you have as good of an experience as I have had.

Windows XP after a few services packs worked well...the same for Windows 7 IMO but with 8.1 and 10...Windows ceased to be Windows as we knew it..as it's more like a broken tablet now.

Microsoft wants to control everything we do on a computer they don't own...the only problem with Windows is Microsoft.

Here's an article by a guy who worked at Microsoft...very interesting and a good reason to change to Linux.

Thanks Bill. That's what I was trying to get at.
Microsoft spent a lot of time on XP in SPs, fixes, etc to make it into a solid OS. [as best they could with legacy limitations]

Microsoft put out Win 7 and users discovered a bunch of bugs- which Microsoft ignored and put out win 8.

So is Microsoft going to continue to ignore faults and just pump out a new OS? Is that going to be their history?

We can't believe anything Microsoft says any more...they sell our data to Governments so what does this tell us.

Microsoft say support for win 7 ends in 2020...so why do I now only get updates for spyware and Win 10 that I don't want. Support has already ended because they want everyone on that spyware/malware broken OS win 10 so they can control everything we do.

I've always ran Windows...starting with XP then Win 7 both were easy to use and had just a few problems along the way but user friendly. Then Microsoft decided to to make our lives hell and create an OS that was the total opposite...Win 8.

When many people complained that it sucked and useless...Microsoft gave us 8.1 which also sucked and still had those useless tiles that no one wants.

Then came Win 10 a jumbled mess that you need a uni degree or youtube to use it...but it has new features...updates that install when they like and your computer re-boots when you're doing something.
Updates that use your broadband to update other peoples computers around the world...You just can't make Firefox your default browser like before you need youtube to see how to do it.

There's the spyware/malware that Microsoft say it's good for us and installed it on 8.1 and 7 as well. Then there's Secure Boot...we're told it protects us but it's there to stop us running live CDs/Disks like Linux...I read that on new laptops etc you will not be able to disable Secure Boot on Microsofts orders.

I have tried 8.1 and 10...have experienced the problems above that's why I run Win 7 and Linux Mint on separate HDDs. I've been running Linux Mint for over a year now...it's very much like Win 7 and user friendly. Linux does have problems too especially with drivers and 98% of software that runs on windows wont run on Linux even with wine installed but the way Mirosoft is going that may change as Linux users grow.

I don't think Windows 10 sucks, in fact I think it has the potential to become one of the best operating systems ever made. Where it all falls apart is the spying issue and the way Microsoft went about doing it. I have been around many Microsoft operating systems and they are all buggy to start with, things will get better with time, its like wine...it matures with age.

Another thing to remember is that the internet is changing and older operating systems are now easier to infect than Windows 10, that's not to say Windows 10 wont get infected. I just think it comes down to privacy with people, but you got to remember, companies have be collecting data for years on us all. So is it such a big deal? Mobiles, Tablets, Computers, Shops, Online Shopping, Email, Census, CV, Job marketing sites, Doctors, Insurance, Google, Sat Navigation, Cars and many many more.  Its not a new thing, its just marketing.

It comes down to this, unless you want to live in a bubble or technology free, then you going to have to be a part of it one way or another, moving to Linux will not stop people collecting data, Google have been collecting data from the start, no moans about them.

Brian,

You can't compare Doctors...the Census...Insurance and a few others to what Microsoft is doing...If we did the same as Micosoft we'd end up in Jail and rightly so. We do have privacy laws in my country which don't apply to the Government of cause and Microsoft as well it seems.

If I ran a business and sold a crappy product that had many problems and didn't give a stuff when customers complained...how long would I be in business for...not long...so why is Microsoft still going. I am well aware of what Google does...that's why I have Duck Duck Go installed.

You've made many good Videos over the years helping people with the many problems windows XP-7-8-8.1-10 have and still have...we get no help from Microsoft as they only care about their share holders so It's not going to change any time soon. So we either put up with it or move to Linux...for me and I'm sure many others the choice is clear.

Great idea Brian...I'm sure many people will appreciate your efforts. I'm back on win 7 and still getting those spyware and win 10 updates...when will it end. Remember when you would click "hide update" and you never saw it again...not now but lucky I have your batch file to wipe the bastards I miss but they still come back...bloody Microsoft.
