Say Your PC is having issues, blue screening, little issues with Windows, Crashing of programs. A good resource is to run As Administrator the SFC Scan. This is done by opening a command prompt and typing (SFC /Scannow) By running the SFC scan; you can Repair a lot of these problems.
The scan tells you if it finds any corrupt files, If not you can move on with your troubleshooting. If the scan finds integrity violations they will be repaired and possible your troubles will be gone, this is a very handy tool;
If the scan finds issues and is unable to repair, you will want to run the scan again in safe mode. If for some reason the SFC scan is not able to repair the integrity violations in safe mode.
At that point, you would want to run The DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to repair component store corruption that will disturb the SFC scan from working correctly. If the DISM command changes anything, you will want to restart the PC and run the SFC scan again. Window 7 or earlier is not equipt with the DISM scan. You need to upgrade to Windows 10.
Oh Yeah, I almost forgot the DISM scan will hang at 20% for awhile.
