Wait. You purposely deleted 5GB of photos for this test?

Best recovery tools I've ever used are Autopsy and Scalpel now they are hardcore. Although 5GB of data would take the best part of a day to recover.

Try GetDataBack make sure you do a deep scan of the drive. Quick scan will not yield much

nope I delete it by a mistake the hard drive was in a Western Digital Western Digital My Book Essential 500 GB USB 2.0 Desktop
the adopter inside went bad what i did is to take out the hard drive plug it into a docking station
but after you plug it into docking station you have to assign it a letter

but what I did by a mistake is to select assign a letter and format
