setup a wifi router to the laptop

hi, is there a way to setup a wifi router to the laptop because my desktop is the only way to setup the router, bad part it is the desktop don't work, so our wifi is slow. tryin to hook up the router to the laptop which i don't know. plz help

Your router/modem would have a connection to your phone line and a way for you to plug a cat 5 cable into your laptop and/or desktop.

a phone line you say, does that interfere with the phone calls tho.

There is supposed to be an ADSL filter box used between the phone connection and the router.
That divides the signal into two parts, one part containing the ADSL signal and the other containing only voice.
