Hi Guys,
Thanks for allowing me to post in this forum Britec.
Replacement Power Supply Question if I may please.
I think my Power Supply in My Dell Inspiron 530 is about to die.
It's an 8 year old computer, 32 bit running Vista but I need to keep it running for a while longer.
I've been told that a generic ATX power supply unit can be installed, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin
main motherboard power connector, with or without the on/off switch and that I would require a power supply
with four SATA power connectors.
I can no longer get one from Dell. I've looked on eBay but they look like they are mainly refurbished and I'm
concerned that I'd just be buying one ripped out of an old system without any guarantee of working.
If I can't get one and it does die, I'm considering changing all the capacitors assuming I can get some of the correct
value and/sizes and voltage ratings. Even then there is no guarantee that it will fix it.
Can anyone advise where I can get one in the UK please and if you need further information to answer my enquiry,
what exactly is it that I need to tell you about the spec? I believe it is a 300W supply and that a 400W would be OK.

Both 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply, should be more than enough if you don't plan on putting a big juicy graphics card in that machine.

Thanks guys, the suggested power supply's do not look like the one in my machine, the fans would be obstructed by the inside of my tower I think.
I'm up to my eyes at the moment and will look at this again later. Thanks for your help though.
I was looking for a direct replacement and the ones suggested look as though I need to modify the fittings somehow.
Thanks guys but the suggested one are not like mine. The ones I've found so far are all refurbs unfortunately. Mine is more like the image in the attachment.
