Looking for advice on a new (internal) hard drive

Hi I have ~200gb storage and I am looking to add another hard drive so that I have plenty of storage space.

Is my system suitable for adding another hard drive, or does something more complicated need to be done?
Could you make recommeneddations on what I should buy or what I need to do?

I also Have a question about external hard drives (connected by Usb cable)

Are these suitable to put all of your programs on (I would then connect it to the PC via USB) or is it better in some way to use an internal hard drive for this?

yes you should be able to add the hard drive because its a desktop computer

In side your computer case will have a place where you put your hard drives, the amount of drives you can install depend on the size of the caddy or cage the install into.

If you are not looking to install into your computer and require storage space outside your computer, then you have this option.

Id say the budget is £100.

I already have a portable hard drive with 1TB (connects micro-usb to usb) could someone please briefly explain the difference between an internal hard drive and a portable one in terms of function and performance

ok base on what you are trying to do I would not use a portable hard drive to dual boot windows 7 and 10

using a internal hard drive would be much better and faster when it comes to running a operating system

Is it necessary/advised that the program files for your applications are on the same (internal) hard drive as the OS files, or is it fine to use a SSD for the OS files and a HDD for your program files?

Yes, install the OS on the SSD and your programs on the HDD.
