Did you do a complete format of the drive? In what method did you use to "downgrade" to Windows 8.1? Where did you purchase your license key?

Hi Lynnne,
No problem, we like to help anyone in need, it's our jobs
Please could you provide more info to better help you? What steps did you take to install windows 8.1? Did you receive an error code?
Timster, I advised her to buy a product key from Software Geeks on the Downgrade from windows 10 to 8.1 Thread

Lynnne, you wont be able to downgrade, your have to do a fresh install and use your new Windows 8.1 product key.

Downgrading is the same as performing a fresh install.

You can't downgrade if there is nothing to downgrade to if it was originally brought with Windows 10? if she could downgrade she did not need to buy a product key.
Lets say she could downgrade, once 30 days have elapsed after the upgraded to Windows 10, it will automatically delete your old Windows files stored in a folder called Windows.old also there are two other important hidden folders: $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS.
2016-11-10_22-29-16.png (Size: 290.44 KB / Downloads: 67)
These are where Lyn's Windows 8.1 downgrade files would of been stored, this is assuming that she upgraded from Windows 8.1, which Lyn said she never did upgrade and purchased the computer with Windows 10.
It is still possible to downgrade after 30 days, but we are passed that now, because Lyn has purchased a new Windows 8.1 product key, this does not give her the ability to downgrade now. She will have to do a fresh install and use her new Windows 8.1 Product key.
You could of checked for these folders by enabling "Hidden Items" in the View tab in File Explorer. But like I said, not much point in that now. Its getting a bit confusing.
