How to switch from IDE to AHCI in Windows 10

Enable AHCI mode AFTER Windows 10 installation, this also works in Windows 8


How to Change from IDE to AHCI Controller in Windows 10


1. 

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV

Click iaStorV and on right pane click Start DWORD to modify it and Type 0 (zero) for AHCI and click OK

2. 

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorAV\StartOverride

Click StartOverride and on right pane click 0 DWORD to modify it and Type 0 (zero) and click OK

3. 

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci

Click Storahci and on right pane click Start DWORD to modify it and Type 0 (zero) for AHCI and then click OK

4. 

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\StartOverride

Click StartOverride and on right pane click 0 DWORD to modify it and Type 0 (zero) and then click OK

5. Close Registry Editor and Reboot your computer.

6. Enter your BIOS or UEFI settings.

7. Now enable AHCI in your BIOS or UEFI, and press F10  to save & exit. Once you restart the computer. 

8. You drivers will be installed and may need another reboot to complete the update.

9. That's it.
