Hard drive controller in Windows 7
#1
Hi,
I've been a fan of Brian's channel for yonks, loving his videos but can't find a tutorial on changing the hard drive controller in Windows 7.

If I change a motherboard for any reason, I have to reload Windows, a proper pain as it's takes an age and I've no time for doing all that again.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Brian, how's it done, I've looked everywhere.. gave up after a while. It's one of those skills that you only need now and again but if you know it, it's very handy.

Thanks Brian, what if you can't boot, can you use a boot/rescue cd to reset the hdc, if so, what would you recommend.

Here is some sites with info on that subject, very easy to do.

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/

fix_7hdc.zip

Change Motherboard Without Getting a Blue Screen STOP 7B Error

You could also image the drive with universal image and then change motherboard and install the cloned image with new drivers for that motherboard.

Sometimes its just best to rebuild the operating system.
