It is possible, but I not sure it is possible with Windows backup software. I don't really use this software for backup.

Maybe try and hide that partition with minitool partition wizard 

   


How to hide a partition


Once you hide it, try and backup again and see if it can see that drive.

Sounds to me like there are files on that partition.


Open an elevated cmd prompt and type;

Quote:D:

Then press Enter.

Type;

Quote:dir

Press Enter.

This should give you some idea of what folders are on that partition, you can then use the dir cmd plus a folder path to access and remove those files.

Can you download EasyBCD and post the log partitions for them drive partitions?

He said Linux is installed on VMWare and he stated that an earlier Win 10 image backup was stored there so that would / should account for Windows reading it as Windows cannot see Linux.

Britec minitool partition worked. Windows couldn't detect D drive as a unknown file after hiding it. although I hid it from group policy and by chenging drive letter before. but it did not work.Windows detected it as unknown drive.. this time it worked. but can a vmware installation file be a boot file for windows. and this problem appeared before kali linux installation in vmware. and
GuiltySpark i checked directory with cmd (dir /x)..but i coudn't find any suspicious boot file.
