Avg remover left files behind
#1
Things I've tried:
  • Avg remover
  • Sfc /scannow
  • Chkdsk /f/r
  • Deleting the registry keys
  • File and reg assassin by malwarebytes
  • Process explorer
  • Autorun
  • Booting to mini xp do to delete the files
  • Uvk portable to delete the files and folders
Of try system restore but I disable that using policy in the registry

I decided to uninstall avast all the files are gone that has to do with avast to install avg some how the install process started hanging at 97% So I stopped the install and downloaded avg remover which I used in safe mode and at the main desktop both were successful but I noticed that there is still avg services and process's running on my system I used Norton utilities and ccleaner to remove the registry files but there's some kind of lock and it says the files don't exist I can't delete any of the files at all.

How can I remove the avg files from my windows 7 machine?

Please install the AVG software again and then uninstall it with its default uninstaller. Please be patient and let the default uninstaller complete its job, restart the PC and then run the AVG remover

Just wanted to point out that it would be better if you use punctuations in your statements, Smirk. It becomes very difficult to apprehend at times like in this case.

Okay, right click on those processes and open their file locations to see where they are located

Next restart the pc in safe mode, navigate to those locations and remove the files manually

If you do not see the files in those locations, please follow the tutorial from the following link to delete those services

This all started because I removed avast to install avg....

Please run the process explorer, see if you can find any AVG processes in there and if you do, check their file locations and remove them manually from the safe mode as explained before

Process Explorer  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx

P.S. I would also advise you to run a registry cleaner scan with the latest CCleaner and very carefully remove just the entries created by AVG that it finds
