Wifi problem with linux in vmware
#1
I have vmware installed on windows 10 with kali linux in it as a guest. Bridge network is working perfectly.. But wifi isn't working at all. I have also got a external wifi adapter (TPLINK TL-WN722n). It works perfectly on my host os windows 10 but it doesn't work on vmware. Although vmware shows the network card. even connects but doesn't detect any wifi in kali linux. I installed a compact wireless deiver software.didn't work. I've checked all wireless drivers in linux system. Missing realtek chipset in it.I can not install the driver in the system. It shows NO SKRC..

Are the drivers for the WiFi adapter installed on your Linux?

No they are not.It is not installing automatically and can not even install atheros ar9271 manually that is compatible chipset for wn722n.  no drivers are compiling correctly. it shows  NO SKRC or There was a problem compiling the package.  I cant even find the compatible network controller..here is a view

the problem could be because you are using a virtual machine the wifi driver can't load in
Reply

#5
yes it could be but evryone recommend it on the net. wn722n works perfectly on vmware..mine is the letest version.vmware even detect it and connect it..disconnect it from host. but linux does not detect wifi.

Exactly! I saw this thread at https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/327374/tl-wn722n-not-usable-by-kali where the user has also reported that plugging the adapter to USB 2.0 fixed it

Please try that, Kowshik

make sure you are not using a usb hub because that can be a next story
